Ever wonder if you’re missing something in your array of spices? I know I do, so I thought I’d share with you our top ten beef seasonings. Hopefully you’ll reply with some of your own favorites.
When you’re stocked up with a freezer full of beef, its great to have a diverse spice cabinet to give you lots of meal options.
We use other spices and seasonings for specific dishes, like dried dill and chives for Mississippi beef roast, but these are the go to seasonings for the majority of our beef meals. We keep these stocked in the pantry at all times.
We’re always keeping an eye out for something new to add, so leave a comment and let me know what your own favorites are.
Here are the top ten beef seasonings used in our house.
Top 10 beef seasonings
Salt. Of course. Salt enhances the flavor and palatability of foods. It also helps to blend other flavors..
Black Pepper. Sharp and spicy. Salt and pepper together are just the base of most mixes and recipes to bring out the flavor in beef.
Garlic Powder. Garlic is right up there with salt and pepper for us. We love the aroma and pungent flavor, and we use garlic powder or minced garlic with nearly all of our beef dishes.
Onion Powder. Much like garlic, this goes in nearly all of our beef dishes for that slightly sweet and savory flavor.
Chili powder. Chili powder adds a mild to moderately spicy and earthy flavor to Mexican dishes and of course, Chili.
Cumin. Cumin has an earthy and slightly nutty flavor that we use primarily in Mexican dishes.
Italian seasoning. Italian seasoning is a blend of dried herbs like rosemary, thyme, oregano, and basil. It adds savory and herbaceous flavor. We use this mostly for making homemade spaghetti sauce and other Italian dishes.
McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning. This bold and savory seasoning mix is the favorite in our house for steaks.
McCormick Hamburger Seasoning. Toasted onions, garlic, black pepper, and chili pepper are the main ingredients in this mix that bring out the flavor in burgers.
PS Buttery Beef Rub. We were introduced to this mix when I bought some through a school fundraiser. It’s a versatile mix with garlic, herbs, and buttery flavor that can be used on steaks and roasts. This is a less salty option compared to the Montreal steak seasoning. We have used it mostly on roasts.
Please share in the comments some of your own favorite beef seasonings.
Thanks!
