1. Continuation of a farm culture
Local consumers like you are critical for keeping small farms on the land. As farm sizes continue to grow, fewer and fewer farmers are able to bring the next generation into their operation. That means fewer people living on the land, and fewer people caring for each acre. When local consumers choose to buy from local farms, we can not only keep the farms that we have but allow new ones to start. Our kids play in the shade of trees that were planted by my great grandfather. This is truly a blessing.
2. Diversified landscape
Your support for grass-based agriculture allows us to put grass back on the land. We live in an area that was once dominated by a cover of perennial grasses and flowers that included hundreds of species per acre. Today, that cover and diversity has been replaced by corn and soybeans. Grasslands have become increasingly rare and fragmented. Every quarter of grass-fed beef or pastured chicken we sell is a signal to us that local consumers want more grasslands with benefits for wildlife, food production, and water quality.
3. Meaningful work
Having a direct connection to the people who consume our products is incredibly meaningful. The privilege of producing the food that you will use to nourish your family is one that we cherish. It gives everything we do at the farm a sense of purpose and responsibility.
4. High quality nutritious food for local consumers
By choosing local foods, you allow us to continue providing high quality, fresh, and nutritious food for our community. It’s pretty simple. We literally cannot make our products available without support from consumers like you.
